This season Real Madrid endured injury crissis. Luka Modric’s latest injury has taken Real Madrid’s total number of injuries for the 2017/18 season to 30, with 18 different players having suffered some kind of health issues.
Only Casemiro, Borja Mayoral, Nacho Feernandez, Kiko Casilla, Youngester Achraf Hakimi and Cristiano Ronaldo have yet to miss a match due to an injury this season accorting Spanish newspaper Marca.Below, we outline all of the issues that the members of Zidane’s squad have had.
1-Gareth Bale: A calf injury suffered at the end of September ruled him out for a month and a half, before another muscle injury kept him sidelined for three weeks immediately after he returned.
2-Keylor Navas: The goalkeeper missed three weeks and seven matches with an injury to his right leg picked up in October.
3-Toni Kroos: The German is currently on the injury list with a knee injury, while he also suffered a rib injury in September, which ruled him out for a week.
4-Marcelo:Like Kroos, Marcelo was out in September, missing a month with a muscle injury in his left leg, while he’s also currently on the injury list after suffering an injury to his opposite leg against Real Betis.
5-Sergio Ramos: The captain has had three injuries so far, breaking his nose in September, injuring his calf at the start of January and then re-injuring his calf shortly after returning.
6-Karim Benzema:A muscle injury in his right leg in September saw the French striker sit out six matches, before he injured his hamstring during the Clasico in December.
7-Luka Modric: His current injury, a hamstring one, is his first of the season and now he is working hard to fit UEFA Champions League second leg in Paris.
8-Marcos Llorente: The midfielder was out for just a week in January with a shoulder injury.
9-Lucas Vazquez: His injury was a short one too, with the winger missing one match in September with a calf issue.
10-Marco Asensio: After such a bright start to the season, a two-week injury lay-off in November halted the youngster’s progress.
11-Fransisco Isco: A hip injury at the end of January meant Isco had to miss the trip to Valencia.
12-Dani Carvajal: While not necessarily an injury, the right-back had a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a heart condition.
13-Dani Ceballos: The former Real Betis player has had just one appearance on the injury list, suffering a knock to his ankle at the end of January.
14-Mateo Kovacic: Kovacic has been healthy for a while now, but he suffered two injuries at the start of the season, one of them just for a week, before a 14-match absence due to an adductor tendon tear.
15-Theo Hernandez: The backup left-back was one of the many September injuries, missing four matches with shoulder pain.
16-Jesus Vallejo: The fourth-choice centre-back hasn’t had much luck with injuries this season, suffering three separate ones, most recently at the end of January.
17-Luca Zidane: The third-choice goalkeeper missed two months due to a shoulder injury.
18-Raphael Varane: The French centre-back has a lengthy medical record and has already been out with three different injuries this campaign.
